Malta is an island country located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. This strategic position has allowed Malta to develop as an important trading post. Country has been a melting pot for many civilizations and cultures with evidence for habitation going back to the Neolithic era. When it obtained its independence from Britain in 1964 Malta had to wake up and transform its economy. Nowadays, education and health system are of the highest level in Malta with a stable economic base for business as well as an established political democracy, very much based on the English system. In 1989, Malta was first to introduce the idea of trusts and today has earned its reputation as a tax haven .It is a jurisdiction offering low taxed trading companies and treaty-protected holding companies, and has put in place tax policies that are competitive and lucrative to business.
